WHO WE ARE<\/h3>

We are a company with social purposes, dedicated to improving the lives of rural women. We make handcrafted products 100% wool. We spin, weave and dye garments, accessories and decorative items. We design and produce collections following the latest trends, for our own brand, Ruralanas, and many other brands, in Uruguay and abroad.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We began in 2003, as an initiative of the Gastesi Martinicorena Foundation who created Ruralanas with the purpose of improving the lives of rural women. During 2006 and 2007 the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank) provided support. At the end of 2009 we took our own course, with the same social purpose, extending to the whole Uruguayan territory and to other South American countries.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We combine these two passions, transmitting dedication, knowledge and tradition in each product, which allows us to grow and expand into new markets and countries. We are the link between the countryside and the city, offering a livelihood to rural families and promoting the personal and professional development of each artisan, who weave quality of life for themselves and for those who use their products. OUR TEAM<\/h3>

At the end of 2009, Industrial Textile Designer Virginia Montoro (CEO of Ruralanas) took over the management and independence of the company. Today, with more than two decades dedicated to sustainable fashion, we are one of the largest companies in this sector, reaching international markets.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We have an exceptional team that ensures that each artisan's work stands out and achieves premium quality. In addition, we have created a network that motivates more than 150 women in rural areas, improving their quality of life. WORKING PROCESS<\/h3>

It begins with the merino wool, combed and washed. It is taken to a workshop where it is spun, then to another where it is dyed and returned to the production centre. From there it is sent to another workshop to be woven according to each design.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The same product is produced in quantities, which is similar to industrial production but in a totally handmade way, saving production time and benefiting the artisan when weaving.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Many of our products are identified by our creative presentation, a packaging that highlights part of the piece and describes what it means to choose Ruralanas.
