
On 7 December 2019, the Industrial Textile Designer and Director of Ruralanas, Virginia Montoro, was distinguished with the Bronze Morosoli Award for Fashion Design.
When presenting her with the statuette, at the Lavalleja Theater in Minas, it was highlighted that the Uruguayan entrepreneur “manages this company with precision and energy” “responding to the highest standards of quality and finish.” It was also noted that “she managed to secure work for more than one hundred artisans, and has created business alliances with local and foreign companies, exporting to Chile, Colombia, Brazil, the United States, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland.”
Finally, mention was made of her ‘incredible leadership capacity, which has led her to be able to work with more than a hundred artisans throughout the country’, as well as highlighting ‘the determination, perseverance and conviction’ with which she carries out her work.
The Morosoli Awards for Uruguayan culture have been presented by the Lolita Ruibal Foundation since 1995, in the city of Minas, Lavalleja. They recognise outstanding figures in different areas, such as the visual arts, science, entertainment, literature, investigation and journalism. This distinction has been declared of interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and the municipality of Lavalleja.
